Decided I didn't want to race any road marathons this year, and therefore to miss this one for having done the last couple. it may have been a mistake - I'm now missing all the build-up and wishing I'd entered, especially as I'm in better shape than I was last year when I ran it. Silly lad :-)

Will probably disappear and do a v long run in the Peak while K is running this so I don't get too grumpy!

Not only is the forecast looking good for next Sunday, it's looking good for Sat through Mon too, so there should be a strong chance of a good day.

I will join the chorus of those not impressed by the new super-shiny unobtanium gels, seems completely bonkers given the universal advice to not try anything new on marathon day! I tend to take my own food but have occasionally picked up the odd extra snack en route. Even though I'm pretty tolerant of different foods I am wary of trying something that has literally never hit the market before.

I hope everybody is fit and well, and ready for Sunday???

I'm not ready in the slightest! If it wasn't GMM I'd have binned the idea long ago, but I quite fancy keeping my running streak going...

I've got a friend who has decided she'd like a "plod around", does anybody have a number that they're not going to be using?

I'm getting very nervous. No idea how it will go but just hoping that the last 12 weeks of hard work and sacrifice aren't wasted! I spent time at work yesterday making up my pace band- have sellotaped it to my parkrun wristband, very artistic I think :P

Been reading through the race booklet and interested to see the suggestion that you carry a passport or driving license on the day- will be ignoring that! And also the line "all fuel must be tried and tested prior to event", when they are providing fuel that it is not possible to purchase in advance

going to pretend I didn't see your last line as I am totally against unauthorised swaps *fingers in ears*

MN - from what I can see of your training, it looks like you've done the hard work, so believe in yourself and go get the time your training deserves. Do you have a time target in mind? (I'm happy to add a list of targets to the sidebar if you, or any others, want?)

Re: ID, one of the first things I do every year when the race booklet is released is check whether the same Asics advert is included that says it is ESSENTIAL to have your passport/drivers license with you... every year I see the organisers having to answer the same questions on social media about that page and yet every year it remains unchanged!!! ;-)

I am also against unauthorised swaps, I have never run on a borrowed number, and never would. But a v.small part of me can begin to understand it when the organisers don't allow any transfers after the end of January, and it would essentially be £70 for a training run for said person.

The answer to 70 quid for a training run is to go and run somewhere else rather than gatecrash an event!

Thanks Nelly. I'm hoping for 4:15. At least a PB, which would be under 4:23. Mind you I dreamed last night I got a PB but only by a minute and I was gutted after all my hard work!!

Is there a stalking app? I'm sure there was last year but can't find one in Google play store yet...

Clare I think you’ll be able to track us at stuweb.co.uk but the organisers never seem to have this ready more than 1-2 days before race day!

if the event allowed swaps (and there's little reason why they shouldn't) it wouldn't be an issue. I don't see why people should lose out £70 due to circumstances outside their control (injury, family issues, etc) if there is someone else wanting to use the place.

Have a good run all.
