I have no idea Damo - a friend did it last year and enjoyed it so figured it might be worth a go.

Blackpool weather looks ok this year for the half marathon a week on sunday (according to BBC). Wind is predicted 12mph SSW, could be a lot worse than that! Plenty of time for the forecast to change though. Still open for entries I think, on-line or even on the day (for a surcharge).

I really dislike that race jda, but am doing it as running mate insists. the 3rd year in a row. Plenty of time for weather to get worse and the concrete to get harder!

Well I just did it once, three years ago, absolute gale and struggled to get under 1:30. Have you got a target? I'd like to be close to 1:20 weather permitting, certainly don't expect to break it.

Previous runs have been 87min , had to just battle the weather and no motivation for the two laps. This year i will hopefully be motivated to go for 1:22/23 , although it depends on weather and who is there, anything quicker than marathon pace will be ok

No posts for two weeks! I hope everybody's training is going well?
I had three and a half weeks of no running in January/February due to personal reasons, but I'm back on it now. And hence I had written off any hope of a PB, but a few pleasing recent runs have suggested I may not have lost quite as much fitness as I expected. I'll see how the next 3.5 weeks go before deciding whether to "give it the beans" or just enjoy the day.

I'm having a serious attack of the CBAs. Should be doing a 20 miler, but have decided to do 10 tonight and another 10 tomorrow early morning. Feeling like lazy slob but it's not like this is my first marathon, so I know I can do it regardless.

Nelly: I'm still pushing hard for sub-3, with only 3 full weeks after this then 2 weeks taper. 20-mile race last Sunday at marathon race pace was good, and I'm looking forward to a bit more speed work. Any others planning to run about 2:50 to 3:00?

Training is going well so far, and speed over 5K has been increasing which is encouraging. I've got a 10k race on Sunday (maybe not sensible in the midde of marathon training, bit of a miscalculation on my part), then a half the week after, will then decide what to aim for in the marathon. The 20s and 22 so far have been fine, one more 22 to do the week after the half before starting to taper.

All going well here, weather was pretty decent at Blackpool and I got a big PB with davelord picking up MV55 prize just a few seconds behind.
Speedy rob, I'm currently planning on setting off around 2:50 pace.
