But “understanding your recommendations is our business” might be valid. Or “handling your recommendations is...”. So perhaps their business is in handling your recommendations etc.

I heard that story on the news this morning too AC and almost wanted to volunteer to keep the society going. However I was also saddened that the headline wasn't 'Apostrophe Society comes to a full stop!'
