I went to a little indie pop gig on Friday: Podcasts + support (I only knew about Podcasts through following their singer, Ellis Jones who was previously in the wonderful Trust Fund). My first gig since before the pandemic, that's a long time! I really enjoyed it and already have a ticket for Young Knives in September.

Went to a good one last night at the Bedford in Balham. 5 acts on, all doing two lots of two songs. It's the best venue D has ever played, and the sound was great. The artists were all quite varied. She seemed a bit nervous in her first section and made a couple of mistakes which is not normal. However, she really did herself justice in the second performance and, I know I'm biased, but her songs were the most interesting and original of the night.

The other great part was that one of the other acts was a guy I was at university with nearly 40 years ago. He was very chatty and much funnier than I remembered. He was great, a really entertaining, accomplished performer.

I do love small, intimate venues. Well-worth a late night on a school day.

That sounds good. We had a similar experience watching SS and gf at Camden Rocks on Sat in a pub in Camden.

Not a gig but going to Nottingham tomorrow with two sons to watch Dead Mans Shoes followed by a Q&A with Shane Meadows. One of my sons did a dissertation on Meadows as part if his degree and the other who is studying Film making is a huge fan. I’m just hoping Paddy Considine shows up.
