I stayed up until 2 in the morning to watch the new season premiere live (not sure if I'll be doing this for every episode). Without giving anything major away, I'll say that it's a solid first episode - not as good as the first season's but still more positives than negatives. A lot of new characters and locations were introduced that will be important later on. I'll probably do a more in-depth review on my blog once more people have had a chance to watch it. |

Have you read the book VP? I have it, which I’d forgotten, but not read it. After this series I may read the bits that have been covered but it’s quite nice to not know what’s happening! We’ll be watching tonight |

I've read it cover-to-cover and dipped in and out of relevant passages on my recent rewatch of Season 1. I don't consider it to necessarily spoil the show (though I was curious as to how *that moment* would play out), just because they've done a good job of fleshing out the narrative. Pretty much everything concerning Viserys was an invention of the show after all.

Looking forward to watching it but not sure when with all this bloomin’ football!😉 I’ve read the book and this show is spun out from a couple of chapters so they’ve done a lot of expanding to make it work on screen. It’s also written as an in-universe history so there are a lot of details that aren’t mentioned because the historian writing it couldn’t have known, and also a lot that may be recorded because of the bias and intention of the historian. The show is supposed to be showing us what actually happened which led to that history being written, which is a fascinating and unique way to adapt a book. |

I’m also very curious about how they’re going to manage “that incident” on screen.

I listen to Dragoncast so have a bit of background, including the name of what I assume to be the incident, but no idea what it is. It was quite fun watching with my OH who hadn’t seen it, and see his reaction to some unexpected moments, like Damon vs Vaemond. |

Excellent review, thanks VP. I had heard of ‘B&C’ without knowing what it was. Tbh I’m quite underwhelmed at the realisation that decent was it. Though obviously shocked at the outcome, the sound effects were quite unecessary!
