Born, a choice of QPR, Chelsea or Fulham, I went to QPR who lost to Arsenal in the first game I ever attended.
Typical Rangers!
Reminiscent of when I took my son, then aged 5, to his first match, Reading vs QPR, the wrong team won as a result he declared himself a Reading fan and never once wavered despite all kinds of psychological pressure. Mind you, he was born in Reading so it's fair enough!

No hard data to back up my claim, but going back to 1974 in my Essex new town, most supported London clubs and roughly in this order, (back of the envelope calculation). 1. Spurs, 2. West Ham & Chelsea (too close to split), 3. Arsenal, 4. QPR, (not far behind). Plus a smattering of Leyton Orient. There was an unhealthy number of 'Cockney Reds' - Man U have been popular here from well before then. Can't think of any real Liverpool presence.
As of today. Man U has increased even more. Liverpool gone from being off the radar to significant local support. Arsenal have moved up the ranks, plus Chelsea post Abramovich takeover have undoubtedly increased too.

Growing up my local clubs were Brentford and QPR. Most kids at school supported QPR (who were massive at the time - Gerry Francis etc era) or Liverpool for the glory hunters.
West Ham came from my wider family, native East Enders who were part of the move East when the docks etc closed, so older members were still West Ham, younger had gone for the local team Southend with a soft spot for the Hammers.
I guess at least I lucked out picking West Ham over Southend....

Not sure whether we're from the same Essex new town GH59, but in my school-daze in Harlow it was all Spurs or West Ham (makes sense as there was a lot of relocation from north and east London), Arsenal well-represented and very popular among the Irish dads, a good few Man U but no other clubs sufficiently well-supported to be statistically significant
I was born nearest to Orient (hence they're my #2 team) but dragged up closest to / easiest to get to Spurs.

Same town Fitz. I was born in Leytonstone not far from the Orient. We moved when I was 15 months old so no memories, but always had a soft spot for the 'Os'.

Growing up in Worksop there were two Man United fans in our primary school, me and my older brother.
About 90% Liverpool with the odd Leeds, Wednesday and Forest thrown in.
