I went to school with a boy who had Everton as his second team. His first team was Marine.

I once drove to Tranmere from Reading midweek, on my own, to watch a 0-0. Apart from a brief bit of excitement featuring a sending off and a missed penalty, it was very dull.

I used to watch Tranmere fairly regularly in the early 90s when I was at uni. Good side then with Aldo, Nevin, Johnny Morrissey etc

Derby Tup
Tranmere was a side Derby always struggled to beat in the 90’s. Good side as you say and tricky at their place

I once drove to Lyon to watch United, got there 3 hours before kick off, had about 12 espressos and drove home 3 hours after the game. I did sleep on the ferry for an hour either way.

We drew 2-2.

Prenton Park used to be bouncing on a Friday night, Tuppers :-) There was a memorable 3-3 against Derby (a Saturday that one), but my favourite game was against Bristol City. City at the time had Junior Bent up front. He was lightning quick but finished like Jason Lee. He missed a hatful of chances and Tranmere had about 6 chances, winning 5-1.

Bob!
Weren't Tranmere and Southend similar in that they used to play their games on a Friday evening to avoid clashing with the local big club? West Ham in Sothends case.
Were there any others that did this?

Did a bus trip from Glasgow to Mostar for a game once, that was a laugh. Locals were pretty mental too.

Everton were my team as a young kid as ashamed to say even though I'm from the Wirral I didn't even know there was a football team in Tranmere (inset your own joke here)!

As an older kid simple economics and the fact my mates went to Tranmere made up my mind. I still want them to do well and look out for Everton's results and even go to the odd game but do feel a bit of a fraud.

Ah, the beautiful game, remember that? Let's put down some jumpers and have a socially-distanced kickabout. Long shots only, and no hugging and kissing.
