I'm certainly not in the doom and gloom camp, Nellers, but equally, apart from the 5-1 which was a glorious freak and the same day a mate of mine was man of the match in a Lord's final for Somerset vs Leicester (sorry Nellers) - another glorious freak (the match, not Nellers) - we have almost never got anything from Germany. I don't count the 1-0 in Euro 2000(?) because we somehow managed to lose to Romania and pack our bags anyway.
But if we beat Germany...then...
Damn you!! It's the hope you see...

England are the form team having strolled their group in 2nd gear. The two teams they defeated have exceeded expectations in the group stage.
Germany were almost eliminated in the group stages. England are nailed on certainties tonight if the game goes to form

Surrey Phil - the team winning the coin toss absolutely gets to choose whether to go first or second. It's just that almost everybody chooses to go first.
(MUFC bucked this trend in the Europa League final, and that didn't end well  )
TRO - Germany (W) were already World Cup winners by 1966 (once).
A little like Lammo - not much so far in the second round has gone the way you expected. Even Italy winning was a completely different game than widely predicted. Therefore.... you never know tonight. Maybe.

England to win - Germany were in the group of death, and all the others have now died. We don't always cock it up, and I fancy our forwards against the German defence.
