Each point on your route snaps to the nearest point on the marker grid - so it's worth putting a few extra metres in when you exit the circle, just to be on the safe side.

Couple of players had planted flowers all round the little park near where I live (the home point I use is the centre of the park). They lasted until I or someone else ran over them & harvested them.
