Winniefree, there was a discussion a while ago about inaccessibility.

If something is not safely accessible by one means (as a pedestrian your no pavement on a busy A road qualifies) and you have no other means (e.g. cycling) of reaching it, it is permissible to mark it as inaccessible. If a Fetchpoint playing Fetchie subsequently cycles through that marked spot, that spot becomes accessible again, as George Smiley mentions.

So ethically then, FLatlander, that bit of wooded area that is in my circle. It's accessible on foot when it's light (I won't do off-road in the dark) so it's fine in the summer but for 6 months of the year, give or take, it's only accessible at weekends for me.

If I get bugs in there in the winter can I class it as seasonally inaccessible and mark them? Or is that pushing my luck and stretching a point? I haven't in the past. I've just lived with having the penalties until they expire or I get out there to kill them.

I have similar problems, Nellers, with a lot of spots accessible now but inaccessible in winter. I would not mark them inaccessible because they aren't really.

Having said that, once I get another badge, or maybe two, I'll probably head back to WSW for the winter ;)

which leads to my next question: if I fail to get a bug, will it still be there the next day? and until when? This could get pricey...

Yes, the bugs hang around for 30 days or until you squish then ITG. They cost 4 points each day, unless someone else runs through then when they get 4 points more added to their penalty.

(Won't apply in your case where you are but if a bug appears on a rival's regular route and I can't get to it quickly I can easily be having 24 or more points penalty from the single bug. I've had one cost me 48 points while I was injured and just cycling.)

Will it still be there tomorrow? - Yes. It will 'cost' you 4 points per day until it's gone and, obviously, you won't get your 200 point daily bonus either.

How long will it stay there? - 30 days or until squished whichever is the sooner.

The benefits of doing a half decent long run. Planned the 7 mile route yesterday and yielded 495 points today 😁

Nellers - most of my bugs fall into areas that are accessible all year round but there are occasional ones that are more seasonal and I do report them.

We are semi-rural:
Anything that is not accessible by a right-of-way or requires trespass gets "Inaccessibled"
