when I know it's going to close I always go to where the bug is rather than the circle as I hate having to go back for missed bugs!

I had one a week or 2 back where I ran on the wrong side of the road around a crescent and was feet away from squashing it for about 2/3rds of the circle. Fuming!
So what CW says is spot on.

If i know it will be close i make sure my watch is on the appropriate hand and stick that hand out. Mind you signalling right and then turning left on a bike might be an issue.

I managed to sneak past a traffic light today and part of the strategy was keeping it on my left. I wear my watch on my right hand.

Today I spotted a new and unclaimed traffic light on a very popular running route so decided to work that into today's bug-squishing expedition.
Double-checked just before I left and someone else had nabbed it! Still hoping beyond hope that I'll get another couple on Monday...just need the owners to avoid them over the weekend.

sallykate, I guess that someone else had the same thought as you 
I stick my hand out sometimes, as well as making sure I am on the correct side of the road where possible
Plus you have to allow for the GPS signal being 40m or more off track.

I'm not sure whether it was on purpose - it's not someone in the top 100 but I do see their name near me on flowers and other lights. Can be tricky to tell whether someone is really playing or just hadn't unregistered.

SK, I don't think anybody ever unregisters from this game, it's really annoying at times, especially when they only run sporadically.
