Relays are a bit of a mystery to me too. Sometimes I score well off them even when I've been unable to move them because, say, there's already another game marker at the most extreme direction that the relay is going in. Tonight I rode through a high value one that belongs to me and scored nothing from it.
A couple of years ago accidentally duplicated an upload and the second time around got points from the relay when I got nothing from the first upload.

I once accidentally transported a relay across the Atlantic as I hadn’t reset my watch between the two activities. That was in the old game and scored both me and the owner gazillions of points

When we moved house 4 years or so ago I moved my homepoint even though it left a fair bit of my circle inaccessible. My reasoning was that although leaving it at my old house gave me more accessible stuff and not far to go to leave my circle there was also the potential to have to go right across the diameter of my circle to grab a bug.
As I am now running more I am considering shifting it back to my old home point in order to increase my returns but if I move it before clearing bugs will the one on the very bottom edge of my circle stay there once the circle moves away from it?

Just to confirm, if I start an activity outside my circle and come back inside going through my bug on the way to my home point, the bug still gets squished?
