Creeps in. Hi folks, I am really struggling with my weight at the moment, well actually for 18 months since some medication had me putting on weight and 9 months after coming off it my weight is still gradually increasing
I have tried MFP and the constant weighing started driving me nuts. I am wondering whether something like Scottish slimmers might give me the required framework and motivation.. Any thoughts?

Hi Tomsmum, I know what you mean about the constant weighing and measuring. I'm not familiar with Scottish Slimmers, I do SW which means most of what you eat is from the free food list and so doesn't need to be measured and then only certain bits need need to be measured - and a lot of these are pre-packed so you can totally avoid weighing anything if you plan it right!
It's very much a personal thing whether you find going to a class motivational or not, atm I'm finding it useful, but I go through phases where the annoying things about the classes outweigh the benefits and I start to rebel!
If you want to try something on your own, maybe something like the 5:2 plan. 2 days restricted calories and 5 days eating "normally". I don't know much more about it than that tbh!
I'm sure the rest of the gang will be along with more ideas soon.

Hiya TM. I'm afraid I don't know Scottish Slimmers so can't help, but I hope you find a food plan that works for you; that really does seem to be the way to have success, instead of fighting with something that doesn't really fit into your lifestyle.

I have done SS , WW and SW and out of the 3 I got better results with less faffing with SW
Like Kwala I like the structure of a class and have been a target member for nearly 2years

I checked the scales and it's half a lb. I'll take that considering I've not stuck to the plan 100%.

I'm going to need an iron will for the next 5 days. I have a bag of Christmas Percy Pigs and I've promised myself I can have them on Saturday!

Hello Tomsmum - I echo comments above about finding a plan/support system that works for you. My only sage word of wisdom would be to think not only about losing the weight but maintaining the loss long-term.
Hello everyone else... I've been a bit absent lately because I've had the traditional pre-Christmas cold which left me feeling sniffly and grotty, hadn't run for a week, and was also exceedingly annoyed at my WI last Tuesday when the scales showed me +0.1 lb for the week, meaning it had taken me 3 weeks for a nett loss of a whole two pounds.
Anyhow I decided last Wednesday to go into kickstart mode up to Christmas, so I scaled back on cream and nuts - which proved to be not at all difficult to do, and the scale seems to be moving again - will report tomorrow.

Yep - 2.1lb off in the past week, that's more like it.
I will be baking some keto treats over the next few days and hopefully carry on ignoring the standard mince pies, biscuits and sweets which have started to invade the house. I'll give it a couple more days before I buy cream again.

Hark the Helegant Angels Sing
Weigh in tomorrow and after a couple of nights out I'm expecting a small increase.
In addition, in the last two days my dearly-beloved husband has offered to make popcorn, buy fish and chips, and make cheese on toast. He still thinks that if you love someone you must feed them with comfort food (i.e. what his mother used to provide) until they burst. I doubt I'll ever conquer that idea, but I have politely declined.
