Cheeky’s Dad
I see that. Of course that’s also the problem with the entire DBS system. It’s not the Holy Grail people often see it as. At its worst (and with apologies to all the innocent people with clear DBS checks) it only tells you that someone hasn’t been caught yet

I've done a bit more reading on what we need to continue the club affiliation to England Athletics (side note: I think they are launching their own virtual club this month).

The hoops are:

1) sign the club up to the Club Safeguarding Code of Conduct;
2) sign all members up to relevant codes of conduct for their roles;
3) appoint at least one Lead Welfare Officer, who has completed the following:
a) online safeguarding elearning course (£10): athleticshub.co.uk
b) attended the virtual adult welfare course (£25): athleticshub.co.uk
c) DBS (I am unsure of cost): englandathletics.org

I think FERC should pay for all of these, if there is a willing volunteer. In terms of covering costs, I kept the membership at £27 last year - so perhaps if it rises to £28, and given approx 120 paying members, I think the costs are easily covered.

Anyone willing to be our LWO?

If EA are launching their own virtual club that will explain why they are adding in the hoops

Mind you if their actions mean virtual clubs, or small clubs, close then their virtual club could be big meaning lotsof London marathon places 😂

I've already done the online safeguarding mentioned above @fetcheveryone but it might not be in date now if EA expect you to renew it at certain intervals. Would be happy to do it again and wouldn't mind being the club LWO if you don't get anyone else.

Happy for you to do it Ness, if you don't mind. Thank you
