Bleh. If you're shuttling up and down the M6, I can imagine not wanting to try to slot a race into the day.
I'm quite excited about getting to do an actual race

I'm currently unattached and was thinking of joining the local running club, but am told it is quite cliquey, so thinking of joining FERC to at least get some reduced entry fees as races start again - any other benefits of belonging to a running club - even virtual such as FERC?

How about we're all lovely people to (not) run with, Minimag?
But seriously -
- encouragement - challenge - (virtual) friendships (with the possibility of meeting people again one day) - banter

Not been on the thread for a while but agree with Marky re benefits of joining.
I ran Medoc a few years ago and was told that if I did it in less than 6 hours I was not taking it seriously. I took it seriously...........
Minardi, you may also want to set up a ham and cheese feeding station in one of the gardens to further replicate the experience!

Minimag I thought for a moment I had stayed on to the single Fetchies thread. Join the club, get your race fees reduced, you can chooose to wear a fetch shirt and never be lonely at a real race when other fetchies cheer you on.

It's an official Medoc - got my number and everything. I did the real thing a couple of years ago so know what my aim is We've now got an official sweeper - basically a friend in fancy dress on her bike playing loud music. We will be aiming to finish at mine with a party - we've invited friends to join us for one or more legs (as long as they're in fancy dress!)
go on Minimag, come and be a dirty Ferc-er!

It's the 3 Village 10, based in Wetheral and going through Scotby and Cumwhinton, RH. Two loops, undulating, good-natured and inclusive. (I really rate Sport in Action as a race organisation.) The Kirkbride Half looks like it'll be run on 1st November. I might be tempted, and will probably volunteer again if I don't run.

Minimag, go for it! Well worth it for the race entry discounts and the additional bite at the London Marathon cherry, and the support you'll get when racing in Fetch colours. (I joined a local club eventually, but ran as FERC for years.)
