I’m barely off the start line but with marathon tapering it’s not ideal. I hope to get some more consistent mileage done after and try and catch the sweeper.

As a relatively high mileage runner I can get the miles being logged on the run challenge but since being forced onto the turbo these last few days I doff my cap to those at the other end of the country already on this challenge. <doffs cap from somewhere on the A30>.

Maccathecracker hope you can survive the A30. ;-) *Doffs helmet back to you.* :-)

My excursion today has taken me just beyond Lancaster. I've been to Lancaster twice before - once in 2013 in an ambulance to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary :-( , and the other 21 years earlier cycling on my way to Salford from Scotland (Jo'G as it happens ;-) ) along the A6. There was such a high level of traffic pollution on the A6 that when I got to Garstang (south of Lancaster) I diverted through it but the pollution was just as bad so I had to turn well off the road and stop to breathe some fresh air.
Hope you all bring your oxygen masks when you get this far. ;-)

Just rolled into Liverpool, never been there before, and it's seem an awfully long way up north for this southern coast chap.

And with one bound this morning I was .............. over Wrynose and Hardknott passes.
Wonderful climbs and scenery.
Knowing what was in store today I used my super duper touring bike today. Its 22x34 gear was needed and I got up without stopping :-) . Although vven with that ultra low gear it was hard work. ;-)

Thanks

eL Bee! and V'rap for your route notes.
One day I'll have to do it for real - on that super duper touring bike.

Well done, Flatlander. By coincidence, I was racing a gentleman who reminded me of you at the end of Workington parkrun today. He actually WAS a gentleman and hung back a little when he could have outsprinted me at the end, then assured me he had been running as hard as he could.

I'm over the passes now too, and also on my "touring" bike. It's also my winter bike, my commuter and my pub bike, but as we are indeed touring this weekend and it had luggage attached it's definitely my touring bike too...
