It’s funny how much people are enjoying this. I actually wrote in my thesis that games like treasure hunts might be a good way for people to enjoy exercise more, and that was before this started! I had an idea 2 years ago to do a treasure hunt as part of an exercise study in fact

I think you only have to look at the ‘collecting’ games that have grown up around parkrun to see that people like to have motivations other than getting faster for running.

Fleece - I got my kids to hike over 10k, by playing pokemon! Unfortunately for them, it was over a rustic trail and there were very few pokemons but I didn't know that. Nor did they till we got to the end. [evil laugh]

One of my parkrun core group saw my strava upload (apologies for the bad language - I did call the activity 'Fetcheveryone Treasure Hunt' ) and is keen to try a treasure hunt as a group, could be a good way of drawing in some potential new fetchies! (I have been nudging a couple of them this way anyway)

About the reflection - didn’t the bit on the podcast talk about just a reflection and said that it didn’t have to involve water - although there’s plenty of it around at the moment!

A very much not running related white gate. Functional rather than beautiful, I’d say.
Some of York was bombed in the war, but I’m pretty sure this row of shops is the result 1960s council modernising-just-because - there’s a fair amount of that around. It’s just inside Walmgate Bar, in case anyone wants to visit. A bit further on I found a yellow fire hydrant marker, very exciting.

Very faded, as well. I struggled to find a brown road sign for last month’s hunt, and here one is just laughing at me.
I only saw one hydrant sign in town, despite twisting my neck around at any flash of yellow - then when I got near home I suddenly noticed there’s one on a wall (not an interesting wall) at the corner of my road. So now I know.
