Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Mr RB wasn't allowed to learn an instrument at school because he got which was the high note and which was the low note wrong. He could tell which was which, but didn't know which term applied to which.

We have a tenor horn :-) I got a rental instrument rather than spending hundreds of quid on something I might not get on with, but I can get some notes out of it which is a start. Initially it felt blocked and I could only get a note by pressing a valve half down, but I twiddled the valve and it resolved the problem, so I guess all the bits where the tubes get changed by the valves had got out of whack. I have found some YouTubes. Mr RB sounds better than I do, but I think that's because I need to relax my embouchure more (probably too tight due to oboeing). It can't be heard outside the house, so my worries about annoying the neighbours are hopefully unfounded.

Yes, you'll need to relax the lips a bit. Try buzzing with just the mouthpiece to start off with, just to get the right feeling before putting it on the horn.

T's teacher uses the Standard of Excellence books, and I think there are accompaniment tracks on YouTube.

Hello folks. Over on the podcast thread we are trying to guess the identity of the masked fetchie (we performed brilliantly on the podcast this week).

Would you be able to tell me the fetch name of the guitarist in the fetch band - as that is going to be my guess for the identity of the masked fetch.

Aha! Well I love it. Well done ER. And thank you. I'm trying to work out how I can steal it off FR Podcast and put it in my Spotify playlist... :-O
