But on the FRA forum they are wibbling about it and them there are proper fell runners... I'd hate to take a weekend off work, drive up to the Lakes and get sent home at checkpoint one... Or maybe I am not as slow as I think I am???

Have to say that my left arm is a bit jittery... I need to build up some mpre upper body strength, so shall be getting and cutting more wood, until the whole store is full and until I have cut my nieghbours trees as well

Not yet SW, not yet... but apparently he is a bitchy coprorate lawyer, that stays in the house about one week a year, so I better make sure I handle this correctly

Just in case he relaises we have had a Fetch Stihl Challenge in his neglected woodland and he does not appreciate the selective felling that has taken place to re-juvenate and improve said woodland

Catching up with stuff now back in the land of broadband - and just back from the quick, muddy blast that was Blackstone Edge. Beaten by Owen (again), as he skipped past on the run off the top. Very pleased to finish inside Angela Mudge's time though
I've done Wasdale (twice). Fantastic day out. Key lessons (1) don't try it you're coming back from a cold (2) drink plenty of water on the way - there are quite a few streams on the first half and (3) save something for the run off Scafell Pike & down Lingmell Nose. Did 5:35 on the my first go (see lesson #1 :)) and a tadge under 4:19 second time. I gather from a friend who did it with jetlag that the cut-offs are not too bad: apart from the first bit over the Screes, he "walked round". The mad thing about Wasdale is that the first section i.e. over the Screes & down to the valley (don't look at the view up the valley to Gable at this point, not unless you want to be seriously disheartened:)) would make a descent AS fell race on its own.
Hope the ankle's getting better Mud.
