I was going to do my own conversion until I mortgaged my soul and bought a California. One of the difficulties I found was finding a suitable donor, there were a lot of low-power options around, but hardly any 140s etc.

It was painted in 1960s sort of pale blue and cream and had a VW badge on the front, but it can't have been a genuine VW, can it? There was tiny a six-seater, no luggage van/car on the market when we were expecting our fourth child in the late 80s. Maybe it was one of those, painted up?
