We bought a motorhome last year and should have done it years ago when Nic was racing. At the time we went with the philosophy that ‘you can book into a lot of B&Bs for £30k’ but I now realise that’s a false economy. Buying 2nd hand makes depreciation super low. I actually think if we sold ours now, we’d get more than we paid for it a year ago.

We just took the plunge and ordered a VW California Ocean T6.1. We have been thinking about it for ages but held off because we were trying to sell our flat and just hired one for a week in Scotland. 2 years later we were still waiting to sell so thought sod it and placed the order. The same day we got an offer for the flat!
It will be a long wait for it, but hopefully we can enjoy some more travel adventures next year.

I'd like one of those but can't ever imagine being able to afford one, or not having something more pressing to commit the money to.

I bought 'A Guide to Buying Your First Motorhome' in Smiths yesterday The only way I can afford one is if we sell our house and go and live in one.
