Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The more we use our caravan, the more I love it.

We had our first breakdown this week. An earth lead had worked loose but it was quickly detected and sorted by Mr AA.

I can see arguments in favour of both. A caravan is a good base for exploring in the car but isn’t as flexible if you want to do a tour.
We took the caravan to have a skoot around Belgium and there were a number of small villages that would have been good to explore but we couldn’t park.
When we were in the USA we towed a car. That worked a treat and gave us flexibility especially in the National Parks but their roads and infrastructure are more suitable.

And that is exactly the issue XB - we do plan on doing lots of touring and that's what puts OH off with a caravan but the VW will not be the most comfortable for a longer trip with the smaller bed so hence he is now saying a full width bed....

Same here. We want the fixed bed and a proper loo and shower.

Fixed bed was our number one requirement and it’s really comfortable. But that meant a 6 metre van to get a bathroom and comfy seating area.

It is tough. I still covet a camping van too :)

We wanted a fixed bed. But our top priority was a big garage for the bikes, so we wound up with a 7m MoHo with a bed over the garage (and a drop-down bed at the front that we never use).

The main issue with it is parking, and narrow roads.
