Bank account still intact .......... for now Howgill Lodge site was lovely and we will defo revisit there again in in a tent or van as well as the Brownie Barn just down the track.
Anyone thinking of buying a van it is great way to put things clear in your head before splashing out loads of money then finding out its just not for you ........
Pop top bed was fine even for 2 adults but was bloody freezing Sunday night when we "wild camped" over looking the Howgills.
We can probably make do without having "facilities" but i really would prefer them rather than having to open / close door and walk across the campsite to go in the middle of the night.
Needing to move bags around all the time for bed up / bed down ok for a short period but i think i'd prefer a van i can go away for a week in and possibly tour around france etc and that would do my head in ...... the Herdy van had no side windows so the van steamed up a bit when cooking / brewing a cuppa (our old one had sliding side window)
If you fancy hiring one of the 3 Herdy Vans then defo do it for the experience (we got loads of attention due to the branding) however do it in the next 12 months as they are only doing it until next September then jacking it in.

We hired a VW California for a week before deciding it’s what we wanted. We also looked at other models. Just back from 3 nights of semi-wild camping in N Yorks and the Pennines. Semi wild in that we weren’t on campsites with facilities, but had some access to toilets and a portaloo at a pop-up campsite. We recently bought an iso-top for the pop up roof and found it plenty warm enough to sleep upstairs, but we did have a spell of warm weather. Our next longer trip will most likely be Scotland in November- which may be more challenging. And I’ll push to have 1 night at least on a site with facilities.

Those sliding doors do make quite a noise in the stillness of the night. It sounds like you found the experience really helpful, Gromit.

We’re staying in a static caravan this week - a nice one, I have to say. It’s making me realise that the MoHo has its place but staying somewhere like this is much more convenient when in one place for a week.
I think the MoHo will be mostly used for weekend trips / races or touring holidays from now on. Or I guess if we want a cheaper holiday…

We are off to tewskebury this weekend for a three night stop and the camping and caravaning site. It's on the edge of town which is good as I like being able to walk in for pubs and stuff. Added bonus just found the parkrun is practically next door and takes dogs! hoping the weather keeps good. We have an awning which is handy if the weather is poor

We love our camper van but as we are going away more and Mr Moo is thinking of getting a caravan. We don't want a Moho, it wouldn't be right for us but with a cervan we can keep the VW too

Straw poll looking around our campsite at the weekend seemed the swift base camps look brilliant … but I’ve been told not cool 😎😂😂😱

I see the Base Camp as a caravan aimed at the younger end of the market. But if you’re going to take the plunge and tow a caravan you can get a lot more comfort than one of those IMO.
