Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Garden curlew! Incredible!

Merlin is messing with my head, I tell you! After the plausible but not confirmed garden warbler the other day, I was in a little local nature reserve this morning and 'Lesser Whitethroat' popped up on Merlin. Now while it's early in the year, it is precisely the sort of place where I might expect a LW. But I couldn't actual make out a distinctive song myself, and I think it was probably just getting confused by fragments of a blackcap song. Was expecting Greater Whitethroat as it's known territory for them, but heard none. They're sure to be there in a few days.

Dozens of skylarks in the gusty wind this morning. In the end I couldn't resist, even though I know good pics are almost impossible
