Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Spotted an odd shaped 'grey' bird on my run today. No photo, it flew off low and too fast for me.
A few seconds later, I worked out what it was. By it's call. Very distinctive and unmistakable.

Cuckoo ... cuckoo

Two pairs of hares in a field. When the big ones lope around, they remind me of bobcats. Deer in the same field and also a solo goose with a black head in long grass that kept ducking down. Was on bike and didn’t have binos on me, so no ID.

I’m also seeing the occasional black & white duck around here; again from a distance. Probably tufted, but always worth checking in case it’s a scaup. Off out in a bit with the binos.

Yesterday my first swallow. Today the resident martins in abundance by the Tees. And a woodpecker drumming.

Still waiting for our swallows. Put up two swallow houses the other day. Hope they use them.

Our camera bird box has not had any interest in about a week now. I wonder if it is too new.

I had a quick look at the Kittiwakes on the Tyne Bridge today. They were in fine voice.
