A couple of field drains, not much in them at the moment but damp, I'd guess less than half a mile from the River Ivel and the gravel pits in a straight line. Two big stinky, wet piles of manure - which might be attractive ![]() |

A couple of Swallows amongst a group of Sand Martins over the river this evening, and then a single Common Sandpiper. They seem to keep quiet for a few days when they first arrive, so are hard to spot.

We’re on holiday in Shropshire (just north of Telford) and I’ve managed to add quite a few to my life list ![]() ![]() Western Yellow Wagtail and Eurasian Linnet pick of the bunch. Good view of a kestrel eating something while perched on top of a hedge. Merlin has picked out loads of others but I’ve yet to actually see them close enough to positively ID - skylark, nuthatch, stock dove, greenfinch, raven, dunnock, gadwall, meadow pipit |

First sedge warbler of the year for me today on my run along the river valley. Later on I stopped because I thought I heard a garden warbler. I whipped Merlin out and after a short while, garden warbler popped up, but with a red dot next to it which suggests that it is rare for that location or time of year. It wasn't clear cut, though, and because of the timing, I'm discounting it. Merlin also suggested a whitethroat, which would not be at all unusual for the location and I've been expecting them round about now, but I didn't hear it myself so I'm discounting that too.

Pigeon nest (raft?) building next to me. They’re so flimsy it’s hilarious sometimes.

Should have said I heard my first singing reed bunting of the year too, this morning.
