Mine's not really a garden. But not seen or heard many songbirds out of the back of mine recently.

Mainly sparrows, starlings, magpies and jackdaws. In fact saw what seemed one of the biggest jackdaws I've ever seen this morning.

Goldfinch, robins, blackbirds and doves all use the feeders here.
Jackdaws and Rooks have learnt to just fly at them, bash them, then eat what falls out.
Pigeons seem the only birds not to have worked the feeders out.

One squirrel has been busy stealing peanuts and burying them in the lawn.
Another squirrel (I assume) has been sniffing around, digging them up and eating them.

Last night, 2 squirrels vs 1 small rat having a pat on the lawn. I think the rat won by being more aggressive!
(time to prime the trap and put some poison down if the rats are back)

Sparrow fledglings this morning :) Plus a goldfinch sitting on the telephone wire outside my (upstairs) study window - we don't usually see them that often.

We've got loads of goldfinches at the moment, but they do tend to disappear for a few weeks just before the young uns ledge.

Run out of meal worms much yo the sparrows disgust 😂

Loads of goldfinches here too, a significant amount more than last year. We've also seen a massive increase in the amount of pied wagtails, I think that must be down to us opening up the garden to the rear and increasing the amount of open space.

Of course, just after my earlier post, 2 goldfinches turned up at the feeder. But I haven't seen any others today. Or, curiously, adult tits - it's all youngsters.

3 barn owls on the drive back from the Otley 10 last night as we passed through DT-land.

And I stopped and ate my lunch today with curlews buzzing overhead from the field next to the road. I could have almost stroked them.

Yesterday afternoon I saw two adult Goldfinches with three fledglings in my garden. The fledglings sat on the garden fence while the adults took stuff from my bird feeder to feed to them. It was so lovely to watch them flying across to their babies and seeing the fledglings response to the adults approaching.

They were cutting the grass and taking it away in the massive field beside my house yesterday. Resulted in about 5 or 6 buzzards flying very low around.
