We saw a pair of oystercatchers once and they were at it for barely five seconds. They flew into the field, mated and were gone again quicker than I could type what happened
Curlew under severe pressure and UK has a very significant proportion of the global population so a good spring is good news

It's really quite striking how many of them are about at the moment, that has to be good news right? I was out over towards the Trough of Bowland today and was overflown by a formation of four in full song, it was really something.

Blotts Mate
We are new to Merlin. How amazing is this app! This morning on our walk near Felixstowe docks: nightingale; wren; great and blue tits; yellow hammer; black cap; ring- necked pheasant; chiffchaff; robin. Yesterday cetti's warbler and Greater Spotted woodpecker as well as most of today's.

Yes, DT, spotting them gave me a wonderful warm glow! The funny thing is that as I looked out yesterday, I had the feeling they were imminent.

It’s certainly swift time. We’re in Lowestoft and I saw a group of sand martin by the coast yesterday. We’re heading home tomorrow hopefully in time for cuckoo arriving
