First little flock of redwings this year in the walnut tree overhanging my garden. (Well, I say first but there have probably been numerous visits which I have missed, as they only tend to pause briefly for 30 seconds or so before moving on).

Our wren was back on the patio today in the sleet, bobbing around in the dry stone walls š

Fantastic views of two goldcrest late on Saturday afternoon. Seven or eight feet away and close enough to see their crests (and hear their incessant calling)

Yes, DT, they're quite confiding little birds, aren't they? Best view I've ever had was just outside my front door in urban Norwich one time, when one was hopping around no more than maybe 5-6 feet away, evidently unbothered by my presence.

Just seen a wagtail with a grey back and a pale yellow belly. I'd say a bit larger than a pied wagtail but then it was really close up so...
What's that then?

I'd completely forgotten this in my sleep haze, but had a lovely wren song wake me up pre-dawn this morning when it was still dark.

Thanks.
That's a boring name for a pretty bird tbh.

Lovely birds. If you don't usually see them they may be struggling to find food in the frozen conditions.

Waxwings reported in Ripley as well, wish they would come over this way!
