The night heron was still about but I didn't see it today. The birders were starting to gather.

First time this year I've passed the heronry that I discovered last spring. Looked plenty of herons nesting.

Snipe drumming outside just now. I think that may be my favourite sound here - narrowly beating the curlew and grasshopper warblers.

House Martins on Friday, a lone swallow Saturday. The earliest swallow I have ever seen here (Northern Ireland) was on St Patrick's day about 10 years back. The poor thing looked miserable and I wonder if it survived.

I heard at least two noisy grasshopper warblers on my dog walk this morning along a local meadow.
