I came across a group of birders this afternoon, they were watching a night heron and I was offered a look through a scope. I then diverted a bit later and saw a red kite where I'd seen one locally before. (They're still quite rare this far south). |

First sedge warbler of the year for me today. Also a few tiny efts (baby newts) sunning themselves on a stick at the side of a lake.

Willow warbler & green woodie heard from the garden just now. And house martins in Hawkshead this afternoon. Less wheatear around here than usual - maybe they're all in the Lakes. |
