Chiffchaff chiffing where they usually do this morning, even more skylark around than last year - we’ve always had a few but their numbers are obviously increasing :)
Group of 5 or 6 hare chasing around in the wheat field :)

Best we could manage on this afternoon's 12 mile walk were a red kite (I need to check but think this was a migrating bird, not a Harewood one) and a singing skylark. No shortage of lambs now mind

Fruitful visit to RSPB Saltholme on Teeside yesterday. Good selection of waders, a dozen or more Avocet, pair of Blackwit, LRP, Redshank, Ruff, Dunlin, Oyc, Lapwing. Plenty of duck, Shelduck, Shoveler, Wigeon, Teal, Gadwall, Mallard, Tufted, Goldeneye. Lots of Sand Martin. But the stand out was a number Med gulls right in front of the VC.

There was also a late Brambling visiting the feeders by the VC but we managed to miss it. We did get abundant finches Gold, Green, Chaff plus a reasonable number of Tree Sparrows. And a single calling Chiffchaff.

Med gull are fascinating. You need to see one in its full glory to realise just how splendid they are

The gull for birders who aren't interested in gulls ;-)

That's true about Med Gulls, Derby. They illustrate how in-aptly named Black-headed gulls are - they should be called "brown-faced gulls" or something. I also remember when you were lucky to see Med Gulls north of Suffolk - good thing nothing came of that Global warming thingy!

First Brambling of the winter (!) in the garden at the moment. A male in full breeding plumage eating sunflower seed, and driving a robin crazy.

Interesting, jacdaw! Only once ever seen a brambling in summer plumage in this country (seen lots in Norway, though).
