Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Currently up in the hills in Central Portugal. Returned to the house last night to find us surrounded by churring Nightjars and we've already had a number of Black Kites low overhead (saw lots on the drive north yesterday plus White Stork). Looks like it's going to be a good week for new ticks.

Just wanted to pop in. We moved riverside last October in Essex and am loving learning more about birds locally

We are so lucky to have estuary river and sea nearby plus a nature reserve

Because I also swim open water it occured to me I needed something easy to carry so I can be ready anywhere

Hawke Monocular to the rescue! Purchased at the Nature Reserve shop from a lady who really knows her stuff

I’m finding the monocular such a good investment. Easy to carry, light enough to pack and once you get used to it is as good as the Bi!

Happy birding all

It gets better. Turtle Dove wandering around 10m from my breakfast and Golden Orioles flitting around and calling.

There is/was supposed to be a turtle dove (pair?) nesting in the car park at Titchwell RSPB.
We parked in a shady spot on Saturday and spent ages looking, but didn’t see it.
Did hear a Bittern whilst walking back from the beach though.
Titchwell is lovely, not been there before but will def be back.

Titchwell is pretty amazing as a reserve. I've seen turtle doves there before.

I think I saw a black kite today... Over the Black Mountains... Never seen one in the UK but they were prolific in the Dolomites. It definitely wasn't a buzzard, red kit or goshawk... Or golden eagle... Any hints as to where I can check this could be correct?
