House martins have finally returned! They’re a bit behind and their nests need updating. Should I be helping out making muddy puddles or something? Despite last night’s storm, the ground is mainly pretty dry

And the Market Deeping swifts were over mum’s yesterday, counted 5, think there might have been a couple more :)

They do appreciate a bit of mud making if it's been dry.

Last year I watched them and it seemed they liked the muddy side of the lane against the village green

This year, the council have decided to tidy up the edges and uncover the drains (it needed it, lorries having squashed the grass edges down into them risking flooding) so the areas of mud along the lane edges have gone.

I don’t know how far the birds travel to collect nest material, if the irrigators are on the onions, there’ll be plenty of mud around the fields.

Another cuckoo calling on Roseberry Common tonight. Preceded by being hissed at by a farmyard goose.

Attacked twice by the same goose tonight on my run. Normally not a problem, but when they go for your nose it's a bit disconcerting!

Top list ff! Male eider is one of my favourite birds to watch (whereas a twite is a linnet wearing lipstick ;-) )

Oh - I have identified one of Keyhaven unknowns as an eider.
Diving & catching & eating small crabs, by the look of it.

Cuckoos are everywhere now! Heard at every client I have been to this week. They are far enough away from each other to be different cuckoos ☺️
