Fragile Do Not Bend
I’m very lucky that the phone cable right outside my bedroom window seems to be a favoured perch. It keeps flying from there onto the roof so I’m hoping nest building is in progress.

Two wagtails, clearly defending their nest from a stoat! The stoat, right in front of my client's window, was trying to help itself to the bird feeders but couldn't climb up the stone wall of the farmhouse.

Ocelot Spleens
I noticed the Black Birds had fledged about a week or so ago, just seen a female blackbird with nesting material pop into the tree next to where the chicks fledged from. I am assuming it is the same pair and a second nest/brood?

Yes Ocelot, it would be! Mine generally manage 3-4 broods a season!

And are already on their second... I expect them to fledge fairly soon the only thing that isn't behind this year is the Blackbirds. I like to take the credit for creating the perfect conditions for them with my wild style of gardening and my messy areas behind the sheds where they can safely and warmly nest. Not given the chickens their sawdust in weeks, there is a robin's nest in the bag

We definitely have a pair of flycatchers and it looks like they are trying to decide the best nesting spot

Oh and the poor cat: going stir crazy in front of the windows: only allowed out with me! So I keep an eye on her. She never catches birds, only rodents, but a fledgling on the ground is fair game! I also don't want to stress the birds. Was sat on one of my benches the other day and the blackbird was feeding his large fledglings right in front of me, clearly knowing that is the safest place!

bonners
Fantastic walk today. After much perseverance a whitethroat spotted, then a pair of stonechats and a pair of linnets together, with a lark in the background in the same binocular vision. Then onto the little egret site and chatting to the RSPB warden who is surveying them. There are 9 definite nests that he can tell. Whilst we were talking a pair of kestrel started to try and get at the nests which led to a frenzied period of activity from the crows and egrets seeing them off. Then we spotted a GSW in the woods and he managed to spot its nesting site. Apparently the crows and egrets nest well together and dont predate each others' nests which is interesting.
Finally he confirmed that the little terns have started a new nesting site last year and have returned in numbers this year, so they have fenced the site off to give them a chance. He did point the little terns out on the tideline, but a bit too far for my binoculars to be able to see well.
Cracking walk all round.

Sounds great bonners.
Mr F and I have had lunch at two different garden centres this week, and both times we’ve been entertained by a robin hopping around the indoor cafe looking for crumbs
