Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The regular hobbies back down south used to be late for everything - last to arrive, last to nest & fledge, and last to leave.

"Our" house martins arrived about 2 weeks ago, and are zooming around my head as I work* on the patio.

* in theory.

Beautiful run this morning, willow warbler seen and heard, chiffs heard, fledgling blue tits and i was able to stand and watch an otter for a good 5 minutes! I have never seen a live one before, there were fish jumping around it to get out of the way😊

A couple of bullfinches flitting along a hedge on a walk today - always a treat. And another garden bird tick, a lesser black-backed gull, perched on the decking just by the house, looking enormous and causing obvious consternation to one of our cats (poetic justice there - not that she herself is much of a bird-catcher).

J2R, no it was in the Six Mile Water, about a mile upstream from Antrim town centre and maybe 2 miles from where it enters Lough Neagh.

I surveyed a field for snipe last night. Saw curlew, lapwing, redshank and oystercatcher. And three individual woodcock roding. But no snipe.

On a run this morning, less than 10 miles from the survey field I heard and saw at least 6 drumming snipe.

Apologies for the awful photo, but I think these are tufted ducks on a little boating lake:

Spotted on my morning run, without glasses, in a sea fret with only my phone for photos :-)

I'm rubbish with ducks and waders generally, so took this to try and identify them.
