Seen on our Saturday walk. Also a pair of buzzards acting like dunnocks but I respected their privacy š³

A 7 mile breezy fresh (ie cold and windy, although sunny) walk round Keyhaven saltmarshes, saw most of ar's list and a host more. Too many to list - too many to fully identify so far. Pics here (uite a few!) - while I work on ids. (chronological order, will keep me going in blogs for a few weeks) photos.app.goo.gl Pint at The Gun afterwards was enjoyed, despite the new owners uplift in food and prices! |

DT I planted some buckthorn, feed plant for the Brimstone catterpillar, especially to attract more to the garden. They are so gorgeous!

It was a surprise - cold and windy not warm, so the shorts, t-shirt & sandals wasn't the best clothing. And it was high tide, so we discounted the ferry trip out to the end of the spit and back. And 15 mins in said 'where's all the birds, not a lot here' ! But then the day got better. DT - that merlin was poodling along with a low hum, not thrashing it, which is why I looked up, the sound told me it wasn't a modern plane. |

Either one grasshopper warbler following me or they're in four separate spots on the dunes reserve. On the last one it sounded like I was on top of it, but still couldn't see it. Bird of prey hunting low over the grass zigzagging at great speed over the dunes. Quite small, so most likely suspect a male sparrowhawk, does that sound right? |
