Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

It's just an international harmonisation of common names, Steve. However, having a biological background, I always thought that was what the scientific name was for...

There are 3 Hobby spots by us. We thought we saw one the other night, but it could’ve been a kestrel.

Lovely greater spotted woodpecker spot as I headed out for my run this morning. Could really hear the drumming as everywhere was so quiet.

Then heard and saw chiffchaff on my walk at lunchtime and the usual starlings and sparrows were happy hanging out with me in the garden.

I ended up going to Keyhaven today. I saw lots of avocets, probably common terns, shelduck, lots of nesting Canada geese, lapwings and a few grebes amongst others. I spotted a swallow flying in, then the next one wasn't a swallow, my guess was a swift, although it may have been a martin of some kind.

I've seen hobbies a few times in Norfolk, over water. Lots of dragonflies to eat.

First (barn) swallow of the year for me today. But it doesn't make a summer.

Plus a lovely view of my local goosander couple in the sunshine.
