Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

One solitary Swallow. Flew over the garden earlier. I pointed it out to phal but she missed it.

Superb picture jacdaw, I tried but failed miserably. Mountain walk today, saw plenty of wheatears on the way up and a couple of stonechat. I did have a faint hope we might hear a cuckoo, but no joy.

One shellduck plus a pair of moorhen with nine tiny young plus two oyks on the dew pond near Embsay. The moorhen babies were quite cute

I'm out sitting in my field and U just saw a bird of prey but not sure which one. I thought it was a pigeon so maybe that sort of size. Reddish back. Black wing tips. Very pointy wings and I think a long tail. Kestrel? But looking at kestrel pictures I think the wings were more curved back and pointier on what I saw.

Sounds like a male kestrel. Was it hovering?

No. It landed on the telegraph pole and I thought "that's an odd looking pigeon" then it flew over the field and weaved through the pine trees and flew away. I did think Kestrel but it was very boomerang shaped in flight and I didn't know if that was right.
