Lots of singing dippers on the river here; almost one on every stone. Must have been a good breeding year.

You need to come up our way bonners - it's unusual *not* to see a dipper on a daily basis here and tbh honest I'm slightly disappointed if it's 'only' one. Mandarin duck on the Rochdale Canal today, a first for me for this area |

In what I imagined would be dipper country in the Shropshire hills at the moment but none spotted yet. Loads of meadow pipits and stonechats, though.

Was looking at where dippers live and I really should see them in North Wales, especially on some of the walks I do. Loads of oystercatcher and curlew in the fields by the Little Orme |

Saw a kestrel kill a pigeon and fly off with it this morning which was impressive as the pigeon was bigger than the kestrel. It was pretty grim to watch, mind you! It didn't fly far with it, dropped it into a field and dived down on it.

One of my most memorable dipper sightings ever was in North Wales, by the Ty Hyll tea room
