The bridge where the A5 crosses the river is definitely dipper spotting territory :-)

First Redwings of autumn at Portland Bill yesterday; time to keep ears pricked at night time now especially if it's cloudy.

Two Redwings reported over here today, less than a week since there was still a Spotted Fly and a Lesser Whitethroat around!

Large numbers of redwing reported passing through this area too.

Meanwhile, today we went wryneck hunting, as one over at Cant Clough Res (Two Brians Res?) has been very obliging recently. A couple of wheater, a pair of stonechat, all the valley's (maybe) goosander coming in to roost, heron, greenfinch and a brief barn owl. But no sign of the damn wryneck.

Spotted some pinkies over the weekend around the Nith//Solway.

Can hear geese flying over my house now but it's so misty I can't see them.

Lots' a robins around at the moment. Very vocal and visible. I guess they must be staking out there territory for the winter.
