I heard some unusual birdsong today while walking home from church. I used birdnet and it identified goldcrests - not a bird I see often at all! I watched the trees for a few minutes and there was a mixed flock of them with a few blue tits.

Great stuff. It’s not unusual to hear them rather than see them

I don't think I've ever seen do many sandpipers in one place as there were today on Crosby beach - was almost tripping over them.

Heinzster, that's fantastic - I don't think I've ever seen a flock of goldcrests. Three things of note today: 1. My first winter visitors of the year, some turnstones on the seafront at Sheringham. They're always there in winter and astonishingly tame, hopping around at your feet like sparrows, but I didn't expect to see them yet. But summer has finished long ago where they come from in the Arctic, so it should be no surprise. 2. Also at Sheringham, gannets out to sea. Ages since I've seen any locally. 3. Swimming in a river, a kingfisher flew over our heads. |

Still swallows here near Druridge Bay in Northumberland - swooping over ponds and dive bombing over fields and hedgerows.

Tawny Owl in a tree on our walk. We’ve often heard them when out walking at dusk but never seen one there.... Until tonight 😀

Male in the tree, twooting. Another male on the distance, twooting. Then a female heard on the way back.
