Best part of 20 willow warbler on this morning’s walk. Virtually every tree or bush on the south side of Penistone Hill seemed to hold at least one bird

Got a clean birdbath now. The magpies love it and had made it very grotty.

Rosehip, we have great tits nesting in our 3 room sparrow nestbox. We've had them before, and blue tits, but never sparrows. But that's hardly surprising, as we never have sparrows in the garden (although they're abundant 200 metres away).

I have sparrows in the garden, the house sparrows spend a lot of time in the Ceanothus bush under my kitchen window, but I don't think they nest there - no idea where they do nest.
At least now I've removed the old knackered greenhouse and replaced it with a tidy little grow house the robin won't be over-heating her brood nesting in pots on a shelf like she did the last two years
Half a dozen goldfinch in my plum tree - hopefully, they're eating aphids or something. Jackdaws struggling on the fat ball feeder, hilarious

lots of goldfinches in my cherry tree, I'm hoping Rosehip is right about their eating habits!

Going back a couple of pages, we have more Larks than ever this year. Heard them on yet a different place on my evening run.
The lack of swifts is still slightly annoying. I'm sure they'll appear soon

I miss the mountains, that is the only place we're likely to see a cuckoo and we have had some fabulous swift encounters.
