As usual, I didn't see that much while skiing (it's a pretty barren time of the year), just some snowfinches, a willow tit and black redstarts at village level. But as we were leaving yesterday, in a little town further down the valley, I was amazed to catch a glimpse of a hirundine in flight - in mid-February! I didn't get a good view but I believe it was probably a crag martin, from its size and overall brownness. Apparently some do overwinter in southern Europe, but I really wouldn't have expected them in the Alps at this time of year. Odd things are afoot with our climate...
