I don't think "my" skyarks have really stopped singing al winter - the slightest sunny way and they've been up and chorusing!

Skylarks have been singing here several days this week in fields over a 1000ft up. One morning was also clearly Song Thrush sing-off day, after hearing at least four in the first half mile I stopped counting but there seemed to be one every couple of hundred metres round my morning run.

I saw a field full of fieldfares this afternoon, at least, I think that's what they were.

steve45, I've seen far fewer myself, and hardly any redwings either. Not sure quite why that would be, because however mild the winter, I'm assuming they're still going to have migrated over here from Scandinavia and Russia rather than stick around there for the winter. I have a particular soft spot for redwings, recalling the excitement I got as a small boy when I first spotted them.

I’ve seen quite a few fieldfare but very few redwing
Off out in a bit on the Pennine Way. Target species: skylark (likely) and SEO (would be very nice, possible but unlikely)

re Redwings J2R, I recall getting excited when I first heard them passing over my house at night when I was about eleven years old. That huge roost in (can't remember where!)..England this winter though has been something to see--Was it 62,000 birds or something like that?
