Where I am DT (which is fairly close to D2) they seem to inhabit the higher rough pasture in equal numbers. Out running I find size to be the quickest way to differentiate on a first sighting.

White outer tail feathers are a good way to tell skylark in flight.

Skylark 25 - 30% bigger (plus a bit more ‘pointy’ or ‘sharplooking’)

ff... I was up on the fields above Middleton Top admiring the orchids, my first instinct was meadow pipit from the flight.

Even nearer than usual the D2 both are fairly abundant up there.
You get some lovely orchids up there, I must make sure I pass that way on a run.

Very surprised and pleased to get a Greenfinch on my feeders this morning. When I first lived here (19 years ago) they were regulars on the feeders and fairly common on locally but then as in many areas the numbers crashed and I don't recall having had one on the feeders for years (they are pretty rare locally full stop now). Fingers crossed it will become a regular.

Lots of swifts in Ambleside yesterday, and lots of house martins in Coniston. Also, a male (possibly an entire family) of redstarts, somewhere near Boot. More dragon flies than I've ever seen in a single day.
