For info Surely peregrine are pretty much ‘alpha’ predators and I guess unlikely to share their territory with others of the same species (or competitive birds like kestrel or merlin)
Everywhere I’ve seen that peregrines breed has what I call ‘big sky’, whether natural or the urban environment. Think sea cliffs, crags, cathedral towers etc

Thanks, I think they must have been greenfinches, they were moving too quick for me to check out their beaks, definitely not siskin as I know what they look like.

A couple of curlew and perhaps a dozen lapwings were in the front field when I got home this evening. It was cut for silage a couple of weeks ago and then slurry spread on it last weekend so I imagine there good be plenty of tasty morsels about. The hares should return in a couple of weeks when the grass starts to green up again.

Large pale raptor being mobbed by four corvids over my in-laws house in Devon making an unfamiliar sound. Initial thought osprey. Seen again 20 mins later and not sure if it was either light enough, or big enough to be osprey. There are some serious (blogging) birders in the vally. It’ll be interesting to see if they report osprey today (it’s a key migration route and osprey is a regular spring and autumn)
