On a more positive note:
Two adult mistle thrush feeding two fully fledged young, in our garden this morning. Ten feet from our window
One of the adults was listening stood perfectly still, cocked its ear to the ground then pulled out an enormous worm

Nothing exciting here, although first fledging in the garden today, a blue tit (totally unexpected) closely followed by the first two starlings.

Loads of juvenile Starlings locally this morning. Reed Warbler singing just two hundred metres from my back garden Cetti's singing as usual during my morning run. Great that most of us seem to have seen Swifts now. And fab Wood Warblers Kinky--I guess they were singing not just calling? Haven't heard any reports of Spotted Flycatchers locally and ain't seen one myself.
