Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Garden Warbler surely? The only bird whose distinguishing features are a complete lack of distinguishing features.

Garden warbler gets my vote too.

Our robins have fledged! It's been a nerve-racking period, because we have two cats who recently discovered the location of the nest and, while unable to actually get at it because of some chicken wire I put in their way, have been hanging around nearby and causing the adults consternation. Given that there are multiple squirrels, magpies and jays around, too, I was not confident they'd fledge, but it appears they did, early this morning. Mrs J2R was alerted by the sound of the robin alarm call and went out and saw a fledgling on the ground, and one of our cats nearby. She picked the fledgling up and it flew off, and brought the cat in and locked the cat flap. So the others are presumably out there somewhere, about to embark on their new life. All rather lovely!

Fascinating new word for me there, jacdaw, 'tystie'. I spent some time in Northern Norway many years ago and learned a whole bunch of Norwegian bird names, including 'teist', the black guillemot.
