DT, that must be charming! We get them regularly in the garden but I've never seen any youngsters, so I don't think they can be nesting close by.
We are having quite a good season for nesting, though, in our small garden, as we have robins nesting close to the house, great tits in a nest box and dunnocks and wrens in a hedge. I think there are blackbirds nesting in a hedge at the front of the house, too. The idea of these birds making their homes in such close proximity around us always delights me.

Speckly small curlew with a straight beak. I always think barwit sounds like someone who likes a drink and has a good story or three to tell. What’s not to like?
